Walking holidays are one of my absolute favorite styles of holiday. I always go for walks when I am somewhere new because it’s the only real way of feeling a part of things. If you are up for an active holiday then walking ticks every single box!
If you’re wondering whether a walking holiday will suit you then consider these factors. Have you had a hectic year? Are you feeling rushed off your feet from week to week? Are you longing for a bit of peace and quiet and a slower pace to life? Are you longing to get back into nature? Would you like to set your own pace?
If you answer yes to any of these then I advise you to seriously consider going on a walking holiday this year.

This is just one UK walking holiday that Macs Adventure has on its site, and I chose it because I absolutely love Scotland and have had many, many wonderful holidays there.
It’s called ‘Across the Isle of Skye’ that is for 8 days. Its highlights include:
- A beautiful ferry ride to Skye from Mallaig.
- Staying in the famous Sligachan Hotel, where all the mountaineers stay!
- A 12 mile walk from Broadford to Torrin
- An 8 mile walk to The Storr from Portree
- A 12 mile walk to Ord from Armadale
