Gifts for Travelers: Best carry on Bags
I have done some research into the best carry on bags and on how to pack everything you need for a 7 day holiday somewhere hot in that one bag! You can carry a handbag on flights too and that’s where I’d put my tablet and camera, mobile etc.
It’s perfectly possible to get everything you need in this seemingly tiny bag if you plan very carefully ahead. Things will be slightly different for guys, and I have concentrated on gals here although the advice is exactly the same!
Believe me you won’t wear everything you take with you so:
Start by working out what you’ll be doing when you’re away and work out what you need to wear for each activity. Also, make sure you’re clear about what you baggage allowance is as airlines have different rules. Here’s a link to Wiki Travel with information.
When you go shopping think about 3 things color-coding, multipurpose clothes and comfort. Believe me you won’t wear everything you take with you. Remember you can only wear one thing at the time and pack your bag with that in mind.
Put all your gear in one pile on your bed:
Underwear: your favorite and comfy things – things that you will actually want to wear.
Make up a Toiletries: Aim for one small zip bag. You be able to buy everything when you’re away – unless you’re going on one of those amazing adventure travel trips, in which case put your favorite things in small containers and learn to scrimp. Most people waste their expensive face creams by applying far too much each time. If you wear makeup then just bring the MUST HAVE – leave everything else at home. Remember one small zip up bag!
Smart/Evening Wear: A comfortable little black dress – that folds down to nothing is best –or it could be red! Silk or cotton – doesn’t matter but it must have a WOW factor. That’s all you’ll need.
Day Wear: Comfy cotton shorts and matching Tees. That’s it.
Warmth: Buy a squashable rainproof jacket. Wear a warmer jacket on the plane.
Footwear: Wear your heavy shoes on the plane. Trainers are good and make sure they’re comfortable as they are going to do most of the work. Pack your evening shoes, make sure they’re black and comfortable.
Accessories: jewellery or a couple of thin colorful scarves, sunglasses, swim suit.
One of the best space saving inventions in my mind is the Microfiber Towel. I love that you can have your own towel that is light and small and yet it it so absorbent that you can use it to dry your whole body! But that’s not all it dries really quickly too. It’s a perfect gift for travelers. Click on the link for more details and to buy.
I have been traveling with only a carry on bag and a handbag for a long time now. It really does work for me because it frees up my time, thinking about what to take a way, and my energy, I don’t enjoy packing – especially when I know I won’t be wearing so many of the things I think I’ll need.
This also works if you’re traveling with friends because you can share the load. My husband has far less than I do and my son has the most. So between us it works a real treat.
Thanks very much indeed for your visit. Please tell you friends about us – we’re trying to spread the world about responsible and sustainable travel.
