Activity Holidays ScotlandThe Isle of Skye Walking Holidays

Activity Holidays Scotland: We have picked Macs Adventure’s activity holidays in Scotland because so many of them include the beautiful Isle of Skye. Macs Adventure design incredible trips that will certainly take you Skye high!

Skye is Scotland’s most famous island and is the second largest of the beautiful Hebridean Isles. It has a huge range of scenery and diverse walking to suit all.

Macs Adventure have a number of varied activity holidays on Skye. They have walking trips that take fit and moderately experienced hill walkers to the summits of the peaks of the Cuillin Ridge, the include the Red Cuillin and the beautiful, Bla Bheinn. These are rigorous trips, but have time built in for being off the mountains. They give you the chance to look around the island and to sample some less energetic hill or coastal walking. You will see Skye in all its glory and will be with like minded people and expert guides.

Activity Holidays Scotland

For adventurous and energetic walkers Macs have fantastic guided walks. These walks take you on the hills for up to 8 hours, mostly walking on mountain and moorland tracks and paths. These  mountain routes are predominantly rough and steep, and include tackling some boulder fields and scree. Time will be spent on high, narrow and exposed mountain ridges and there is scrambling on occasion.  You’ll need a head for heights and ideally some recent mountain walking or hiking experience.

Macs Adventures have a superb range of easy to moderate walks and hikes throughout the length of the island.  You will gain the full Skye experience without having to be  a super experienced hiker. Low-land hiking trips will take you to fabulously wild coastlines, deep fjords and secluded bays.

While walking you’ll come up close to Skye’s wildlife, and see its extremely interesting geology. Skye has had a turbulent history and therefore has strong traditions. It has a thriving Gaelic culture, which makes it a fascinating place to visit.

The holidays include full board accommodation on the island’s best hotels. All guides have a minimum of the Summer Mountain Leader Award and an extensive knowledge of the history, culture and wildlife of the Scottish Highlands.

We at the adventure travel shop absolutely love walking in Scotland and we hope we have inspired you to go there and experience the freedom and warmth of this magnificent country.
